Are you looking for a work environment where you can make a real difference to the community that provides opportunity, challenge and balance? If so, Moonee Valley City Council is looking forward to hearing from you. Moonee Valley is a great place to live, work and play. It welcomes diversity and creativity, and embraces values and change.
Working for one of the most contemporary forward-thinking municipalities has other benefits too. Moonee Valley is committed to a balanced work environment where its people are encouraged to drive their chosen career paths.
To ensure we assist staff to realise their potential, learning and development are seen as priorities for our organisation. Professional development is actively supported with a range of learning and development options including the acquisition of formal qualifications through work based linkages with educational institutions.
Moonee Valley promotes a safe and healthy workplace. Occupational Health and Safety is a major priority for our organisation. In addition all employees have access to a free Employee Assistance Professional counselling service and to Council's Healthy Organisation Program which provides a range of opportunities to encourage staff to participate in the improvement of their own health and fitness. This includes half price membership at Council-owned Leisure Centres including the Ascot Vale Leisure Centre which has just undergone a multi-million dollar refurbishment.
Moonee Valley City Council recognises the needs of employees with family responsibilities and aims to help them balance demands at home and at work.
We have provisions which allow flexibility in work arrangements. These include such things as: carers leave, an alternate model of employment where staff may ‘purchase' up to four weeks additional annual leave; cultural and ceremonial leave; leave for staff who provide service to emergency services organisations.
We also have generous Parental Leave arrangements which includes 18 weeks paid maternity/adoption leave and two weeks paid partner's leave. There is also provision for pre-natal leave for pregnant employees to attend medical appointments.
Many positions have scheduled Rostered Days Off on top of their leave allowances.
We have an active Social Club which organises regular activities to encourage staff participation.
Moonee Valley City Council was short listed for the 2007 Australian HR Awards as a Public Sector Employer of Choice.
