The North East Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (NECAMHS) and Greater Albury CAMHS provide a range of contemporary child and adolescent public mental health services to the communities of the Upper Murray region of north east Victoria and south east NSW. Centred in one of Australia’s fastest growing regional areas, these organisations currently service a catchment population of 42,000 0-17 year olds on both sides of the Victorian-NSW border.
A Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist is now being sought to join a dynamic team of mental health professionals and provide clinical leadership to both CAMHSs.
Reporting to the Executive Director Mental Services at Wodonga Regional Health Service through the Manager NECAMHS, the Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist will work across all aspects of the CAMHS’ programs, providing supervision to individual clinicians and service sub teams, direct psychiatric consultation to clients of the services, and secondary consultation to agencies and medical practitioners across the region. He/she will also participate in strategic planning and clinical procedural development through involvement in the senior management group of both CAMHS and specific planning activities of each service.
Research and academic development opportunities are available with the Albury-Wodonga campus of the University of New South Wales Rural Clinical School.
Applicants should have a primary medical qualification registered or registrable by the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria and the NSW Medical Board; a postgraduate specialist clinical qualification in Psychiatry, such as Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (or other postgraduate clinical qualification in Child Psychiatry that meets the College’s requirements for this position); and experience as a Specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
All new WRHS employees are required to undergo an Australian Federal Police records check. A Working with Children Check will also be required.Financial assistance with relocation is available if needed.
