Section Manager – Executive Level 2, Paid Parental Leave Branch

    Information about the Section/Branch
    The Paid Parental Leave Branch is responsible for the introduction of the Paid Parental Leave scheme. Applications for the scheme can be lodged from 1 October 2010, with the first payments commencing from 1 January 2011 for children born or adopted on or after that date. The Branch has three sections:
    • The Policy and Legislation Section has responsibility for policy analysis, development and advice to Government in relation to the scheme.
    • The Implementation Section is responsible for co-ordinating consultations with key stakeholders and working with Centrelink and other agencies to develop business requirements and specifications.
    • The Evaluation and Modelling Section will manage the formal evaluation and review of the PPL scheme over a three year period following its introduction and a number of areas of policy for the scheme.
     
    Description of the role
    The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the day to day work of the Evaluation and Modelling Section as well as contributing to overall policy development work within the Branch.
    The Evaluation and Modelling section is responsible for:
    • Undertaking a formal evaluation and review of the PPL scheme to assess the extent to which the objectives of the scheme are being met;
    • Modelling of the net financial benefits of the scheme to families;
    • Developing specifications for an online estimator that will enable families to determine their optimal choices in relation to PPL and family assistance;
    • Developing a model for the PPL appropriation’s financial estimate with ongoing responsibility for monitoring ????? ?????;
    • Working on PPL’s management information requirements; and
    • Monitoring ????? ????? of PPL with other forms of family assistance.
