Project Manager - Woodlands Conservation

 



Project title: Communities in Landscapes (Caring ????? ????? Country)

Employer: Landcare NSW Inc

Location: Wagga Wagga, NSW (negotiable for exceptional candidate)

Hours: 3.5 days per week (0.7 EFT) of a 37.5 hr week (negotiable)

Salary/Conditions: $72,000 per-annum pro-rata, 2 year contract (November 2009 - November 2011) including superannuation.

 Communities in Landscapes is a $4.2 million, multi-partner project designed to achieve significant on-ground outcomes through community and agency conservation action on Box-Gum Grassy Woodland remnants in the Murrumbidgee, Lachlan and Central West regions of New South Wales. Partners: Landcare NSW Inc (lead agent), Conservation Management Network, CSIRO, DECCW, I&I NSW, Florabank/Greening Australia, STIPA, University of Sydney, Birds Australia.

 The Project Manager is responsible for:

  • Day-to-day management of the project.

  • Monitoring ????? ????? and budget for each of the 9 partners and subcontractors delivering ????? ????? the project.

  • Reporting on targets and budget to the Australian Government’s Caring ????? ????? Country team

  • Coordinating the project Steering ????? ????? all 9 partners

  • Coordinating media and communications

  • Liaison with external organisations and projects

  • Seeking opportunities for future partnerships and projects

  • Assisting with the management of field officers

 Essential 

  • High level project management skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to liaise with experts and lay people across a range of sectors including community organisations, research institutions, government departments and agencies

  • High level ability to make and keep accurate records of all aspects of the project including, but not limited to, meetings, expenditure, accounts, progress.

  • Understanding of the importance of community engagement to achieve environmental outcomes

  • Understanding of the importance of integrating conservation and production at landscape scale

 Desirable 

 

  • Experience with the community, not-for-profit sector

 

  • Experience with either agricultural, NRM or ecological activities and projects

  • Familiarity with web delivered communications technologies
