Downes Wholesale Nursery is looking for a highly motivated person. The successful applicant must have good people and motivational skills, the ability to work unsupervised and an eye for detail.

 

You will lead a team of 5-9 people who you will need to motivate to meet targets and forecast production and keep and follow detailed procedures for propagation techniques.

 

A minimum of 5 years in the horticultural industry, preferably in plant propagation / production.

 

You should:

Be hard working, enthusiastic with a passion for learning and teaching and the ability to motivate staff.

Be able to identify a broad range of native and exotic plants and their growing requirements and propagation techniques.

Have relevant qualifications or experience is plant production.

Have excellent forecasting and record keeping skills.

Have a good understanding of plant requirements and greenhouse production for example you need to understand temperature, humidity, light and fertilizing and the effects these factors have on plant growth.
