Category Manager

  • Global telecommunication leader is looking for Category Manager to join its dynamic, fast paced procurement team. You will be required to initiate and coordinate the strategic sourcing of one or more related spend categories. Participate in vendor selection, conduct vendor negotiation, execute contracts, and maintain a system of compliance monitoring, measurement, and enforcement. Monitor global trends and continuously research and develop new supply markets and sources, develop cross-functional teams to deliver strategies, as well as managing relationships internally and with suppliers

    Responsibilities, experience and duties;

    • Setting category strategies and finalising complex negotiations that deliver savings.
    • Research, analyse, and evaluate decisions regarding sourcing and transactional processes, policies, strategies, and projects
    • Identifying cost reduction opportunities within each assigned category and or commodity and delivering ????? ????? plans to deliver savings
    • Evaluate spend categories to determine priority, definition, and parameters of commodities
    • Develop strategic plans including sourcing options and supply alternatives
    • Conduct structured review of supplier industry, economics, and market conditions
    • Develop and agree sourcing methodologies
    • Identify and pre-qualify supply alternatives
    • Evaluate company purchasing patterns and forecast trends
    • Establish vendor selection criteria and evaluate vendor responses to select finalists
    • Determine vendor performance standards and measurements
    • Presenting category plans to key internal stakeholders and gaining acceptance though your strong influencing skills
    • Liaison with all Departments within the business to ensure that the contract outcomes benefit all internal stakeholders
    • Initiate, facilitate, and attend meetings to provide and obtain complex information, establish working groups and make decisions.
    • Write and evaluate complex RFx documents
    • Communicate to vendors
    • Articulate contract standards and specifications
    • Communicate vendor selection decisions to impacted employees and vendors
    • Effectively communicate the impact of sourcing decisions to management and employees as appropriate
    • Establish key contacts between the company and chosen vendor
    You will be not only an astute negotiator but will also have the ability to develop mutually beneficial relationships and influence all internal stakeholders to gain acceptance and implementation of all contracts. Exceptional analytical skills are required as are strengths in communication and administration.

    Essential experience;

    Solid demonstrated experience procurement sourcing or category management experience in large, complex, multi-vendor, changing environment categories and commodities. Telecommunication product development will be a bonus.
    Strong knowledge of relationship management contracts negotiation and contract management.
    Thorough understanding of costing and vendors commercial practices and accountabilities.
