Manage transport movements

The Onesteel Waratah site is Australia’s leading supplier of speciality steel products to rail, mining and industrial markets.

The principle purpose of this role is to plan, organise, direct and manage the transport of feed materials and production supplies safely, reliably within cost, quality and customer delivery targets. This includes incoming freight, internal movement of material, and dispatches.

This position has responsibility for the following function areas:

• Transport of scrap, alloys and all other materials to the site.
• Transport of grinding media, bar, forge and rail products from site.
• Internal transport movements.
• Assisting with Warehouse management where appropriate.

Principle accountabilities:

• Develop & implement plans to significantly improve logistics safety on-site and for goods in-transit.
• Ensure logistics systems are compliance to OH&S, Chain of Responsibility, Fatigue Management & other relevant legislation.
• Chair and facilitate the Waratah site Transport Safety Committee.
• Monitor and manage transport suppliers performance thru KPI’s and weekly and  monthly carrier management meetings and in-line with the Onesteel Carrier Management Policy.
• Prepare, monitor and deliver budgets.
• Manage operation and coordination of transport activities on site.
• Introduce contemporary transport management techniques, including load aggregation, improved despatch planning and a supply chain approach.
• Develop distribution strategy to focus on improved efficiency and velocity.
• Manage integrated logistics for outgoing products.
• Manage environmental compliance for truck movements to and from site.
• Manage logistics of waste disposal.
• Contribute to the development of the Waratah Business Strategy.
