Operational management is devolved to registries where managers work closely with Judges and Federal Magistrates to deliver court services to families in dispute.
The Courts’ function has evolved as a result of reforms to the Family Law system which took effect on 1 July 2006 and included the establishment of the Family Relationship Centres. Since this time, the Federal Magistrates Court has managed the higher volume of family law cases while the Family Court has focused on the most complex disputes.
