The client is a well established global investment and trading firm with an enviable list of clients in the finance sector. Due to continue growth within the company, they are looking to hire a embedded software engineer with device driver and Linux kernel experience to join their team.
Working on the latest technologies in high speed trading systems, the embedded software engineer is expected to add value and bring something unique to the team. One of the main focuses for this project is to create a proprietary/customised version of Linux that is highly efficient and will allow future real-time trading systems to function a lot faster then their existing versions.
Technically speaking, the ideal embedded software engineer will have experience with the Linux kernel (2.6.X) since typical tasks include minimising the footprint, developing kernel modules etc. Candidates with in-depth embedded Linux exposure are also strong encouraged to apply. In addition, due to the all-rounded nature of the role, the successful embedded software engineer should meet the following requirements:
- Device driver development and porting experience (eg. network device drivers)
- Scripting skills using Python and TIBCO
- Strong in both embedded C and C++ development
- Intimate understanding of network protocols (eg. TCP/IP, UDP and others)
- Understanding of connectivity
- STL/Boost libraries experience is essential
- System measurement and optimisation in a LINUX environment use of profilers, C/C++ code optimization
