UNIX SYSTEMS ENGINEER

The UNIX SYSTEM ADMINITRATOR will be involved in the detailed technical support of Server Infrastructure, in order to ascertain detailed configuration information and map out system dependencies to plan the migration of systems from legacy data centres to a newly provisioned outsourced Data Centre. You will play a key role in the overall migration and transition of infrastructure and services.  
Key Accountabilities: 
 

• Work closely with existing technical staff to collect and record relevant technical configuration information.  
  
• To ensure that all audit information is recorded accurately.  
  
• Labelling of audit machines to ensure integrity of audit process.  
  
• Reconciliation of audit information.  
  
• Liaise with key business unit stakeholders as required, including Application System Administrators from all Offices.  
  
• Problem escalation as required.  
  

  
You will have: 
 

• 70% UNIX (HP-UX, Solaris, AIX, LVM, SVM, Veritas FS, scripting, database ) - min 4 years experience  
  
• 20% Linux (Suse or Red Hat, multipath ...etc) - min 2-3 years industrial experience  
  
• 10% Hardware (HP, SUN, IBM, Disk Arrays config etc) - min 2-3 yeas experience  
  
• Technical operating system experience with UNIX platforms (HP-UX, Solaris and AIX).  
  
• Industry based technical certifications, such as: Solaris or HP-UX System Administrator  
  
• Technical hardware experience including Hewlett Packard Servers and Hewlett Packard SAN infrastructure.  
  
• Experience working on production equipment in production data centres in either and ICT operations role or implementation role.  
  
• Previous ICT audit experience.  
  
• Ability to work unsupervised and independently.  
  
• Demonstrated attention to detail.  
  
• Demonstrated experience working successfully with project team members.  
  
• Good oral & written communication and interpersonal skills.
