Senior Java / J2EE Developer / Team Lead

  • A major industry brand name organisation with a global market share and a solid track record of continued success requires an Senior Java Developer / Lead to join their Sydney based operations. The Senior Java Developer / Lead will be involved in the management of an offshore team and be responsible for the ownership of all Java / J2EE development projects for this corporate company's operations.


    The role will entail:

    • Designing, coding, testing and installing Java/JEE applications programs across platforms within agreed budgets and time frames. Deliver technical design for the solution to be developed. Ensure design and architecture is of high quality achieving necessary design and systems security standards. Ensure developments, enhancements and project outcomes best leverage existing system investment and manage cost of ownership going forward
    • Lead (planning, control and reporting progress) the modification of existing software systems to ensure their effective performance and high quality to agreed budget and timelines, with the required change management focus including all aspect of testing
    • Lead analysis and design of applications programs and databases by preparing ????? ????? high quality technical specifications, operating documentations, system documentations and occasional functional specifications - covering ????? ?????, data mapping
    • Be the lead for any incident/problems €“ monitoring, escalating, and resolution providing suitable recommendations to management. Timely (within SLA delivery of application support of sound quality)
    • Lead all aspects of the SDLC as well as change management. Provide technical mentoring ????? ????? to less experienced members of the Software Development team
    • Work closely with Business Application team including Software Development team members, IS colleagues, users and stakeholders to understand business requirements (functional/non functional). Deliver effective interaction with the business functions, to a middle management level

    Key skills and experiences required:

    • Advanced skills and knowledge of one of the major relational database packages such as Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase or DB2 utilising JDBC interface
    • Advanced skills and knowledge of Java/JEE architecture skills including design patterns and the ability to transfer these to specific project deliverables, including e-commerce models
    • Strong formal methodology experience
    • Advanced skills and knowledge of Application Frameworks such as Java Server Faces, Struts MVC, Spring
    • Advanced skills and knowledge of HTML, CSS, XML technologies and tools
    • Advanced skills and knowledge of OO Analysis and Design, OO methodologies and techniques using UML
    • Solid experience in using open source tools €“ Eclipse, JUnit, Hibernate, Xdoclet, Ant, Tapestry and others such as Java Studio Creator
    • Solid experience in one of the major application servers such as Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic, Websphere, Sun Application Server or a similar
    • Experience in Consumer Products environment preferred, but not essential
    • An ability to assess the criticality of the project/task in hand and, in particular, have an awareness of the risk to the business associated with any potential modifications etc.
