It’s no secret that ASIO is here to protect Australia from terrorism and espionage. Intelligence gathering ????? ????? focus. Working within a complex security environment, you’ll soon discover there is something more to this role.

ASIO’s Counter Intelligence and Security team ensures compliance with Organisational security policies and procedures, and protects ASIO from compromise. As a Security Vetting Officer you are responsible for assessing people’s suitability to hold, or continue to hold, a high level security clearance.

 

Using your perceptive interviewing and research skills you will gather and analyse information and make recommendations about your assessments. You will liaise with a wide variety of people and with your mature and professional approach you will handle sensitive matters discreetly. A strong work ethic and time management skills will help you succeed. Objective judgement is critical.

 

As a self starter with broad life experience, you will work independently and manage your assigned workload. You pride yourself on your people skills and build rapport easily. Being a good team player you are approachable and have a confident manner that will see you fit well into the Security Vetting role.

 

An understanding of the Commonwealth Protective Security Manual or a Cert IV/Diploma in Personnel Security (Vetting) is preferred but not essential. ASIO offers excellent development and training opportunities. Some interstate travel is required.
