Obtain and analyse evidence of financial misconduct
The Financial Economy Group within ASIC is committed to protecting investors and consumers and increasing market integrity. Within this Group, Deterrence teams are responsible for undertaking major investigations, civil actions and prosecutions to enforce the law and drive behavioural change.
The Financial Services team investigates and litigates within the financial services sector. This may result in banning of individuals or entities, winding up illegal schemes, helping investors recover funds and pursuing criminal action in relation to fraud, theft or misleading conduct.
We are currently seeking to appoint an experienced investigator with strong communication skills and a high level of attention to detail, to contribute to and oversee the investigation of breaches of the Corporations Act.
If you have a background in investigation, forensic accounting or fair-trading, then this may be your opportunity to: - Gather and analyse evidence by conducting examinations and obtaining relevant documents to assist in the compilation of briefs of evidence for the conduct of civil and administrative proceedings, or for provision to the DPP for conduct of criminal proceedings, as appropriate.
- Compile briefs of evidence where required (i.e. complete evidence matrixes, summary of facts, examinations, statement taking, completing investigator's memorandums, etc) and make outcome recommendations to allow the DPP) to assess evidence gathered during ????? ????? so appropriate action can be taken.
- Liaise with key stakeholders (i.e. DPP, police, witnesses, liquidators and administrators, accountants, external lawyers and counsel, and other government agencies) to gather evidence and ensure all stakeholders are kept updated on the investigation.
This 12 month, non-ongoing (contract) role is located in Sydney.
