GIS Technician

 

Ideal for Working Holiday Visa Candidates

8 week contract with possible 4 month extension

A local government organisation located just minutes from Sydney City is seeking a qualified GIS technician with experience using Mapinfo to fill an initial 8 week contract. Part of the Planning and Environmental Services team, you will be required to undertake a number of different tasks within the GIS, Planning and IT fields.

Principal responsibilities & duties for this position are:

• Assist in the day to day maintenance and operation of the pathway property system
• Production of 149 planning certificates
• Assist in preparing ????? ?????, updating GIS data and other GIS related tasks as directed by the GIS manager
• Undertake property and land data validation tasks for implementing e-planning projects

To be considered for this position you should have:

• At least 12 months working experience using Mapinfo GIS software
• Demonstrated high level of computer literacy, ideally with SQL and Pathway experience
• An Understanding of local and state environmental and planning laws is ideal but not mandatory
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good written and verbal communication skills

If successful you will receive an initial 8 week contract with a possible 4 month extension after Christmas. This position is ideal for those on a Working Holiday Visa however all applications are accepted and reviewed on an equal basis.
