The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is Australia’s peak national agency for enhancing the welfare of Australians through a fair and competitive marketplace. The Communications Group sits within the Regulatory Affairs Division of the ACCC and has primary responsibility for these outcomes in relation to telecommunications and broadcasting.
 
The Communications Group has staff based in both Melbourne and Sydney and has a Strategic Analysis & Development Branch and a Compliance & Regulatory Operations Branch. The Government's announcement of the National Broadband Network legislation carries an increased role for the Communications Group requiring ????? ????? staff at various levels.
 
As a staff member in the Communications Group, you will contribute to the Commission’s direction on competition issues in the communications sector through the provision of sound analysis and strategic thinking. In doing so, you could examine the competition implications of emerging technologies, advise on current broadcasting issues, participate in the resolution of telecommunications access disputes or set prices and conditions of access for telecommunications services. Skills and interests across economics and law (especially in combination with engineering) are highly valued.
 
As a Director or Assistant Director in the Communications Group you will have well developed team leadership/staff development capabilities, excellent analytical skills, and a proven ability to communicate effectively. As a Senior Project Officer or Project Officer you will have well developed analytical skills, some leadership ability and demonstrated personal drive to produce output to a high standard.
 
Experience in government, telecommunications or with another regulator will be an advantage.
