Principal Environmental Statutory Planner
TEAM LEAD

$190,000 - $160,000 + 6 weeks annual leave
Management & Technical Leadership
Sydney CBD

“You Can’t Change a Monolith from the Outside”
Feel that environment gets a back seat within the larger engineering ????? ?????? This Environment and Planning team has successfully championed and integrated sustainable practices into all aspects of their multidisciplinary operations.

The Environment and Planning team is now a standalone workgroup rather than a support function to the engineering ????? ????? getting massive support from executive managers to continue building the group throughout 2009 and 2010.

Where you fit in:
As a Principal Environmental Planner, sit back-to-back with the current Principal in the running of this group with a two-fold function;

1) High levels of technical leadership on local NSW and Federal statutory planning issues for the delivery of large, medium and small Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) projects.

2) Team Lead a group of 8 with a succession plan for you to take over the entire management of the Environment function line by the end of 2010 as the current phases himself out due to retirement.

With business development managers in place, winning work will not be your major responsibility. However, industry networks and contacts are expected at this level in your career. Your focus will be the management, mentoring, review, budgeting, recruitment, and technical leadership on Environmental Impact Assessments and the NSW statutory requirements surrounding these reports (Part 3a, 4 and 5 of the EP&A Act).

Projects:
Delivering ????? ?????, Rail, Water and Energy projects, the Environment team also sits on a number of bid panels for clients such as Sydney Water and Integral Energy. In particular, there's a very ‘exciting and large’ Part 3a Environmental Assessment for a major development in Sydney (yet to be announced) and worth over $1m to the firm would be enough to attract anyone at the top of their game.

Requirements: 15+ years related experience with some of that in consulting / Science or Engineering ????? ????? / Knowledge of NSW EP&A Act)
