My valued client is a large Civil Engineering Company that has been around for a quarter of a century and employs around 700 people. Due to growth new roles are now available in NEWCASTLE area.

The company’s services include Bulk Earthworks; Drainage; Precast & Insitu Concrete; Design & Construction; Major Road/Freeway Works; Licensed Asbestos Removal; Road Pavement Construction.
 
This position is for someone who is seeking a long term career and stability in a permanent role with this established and growing organisation.
 
Reporting to the Financial Controller you will develop, review and negotiate contracts with clients and subcontractors for civil works projects, quarrying, mining, landscaping, plant hire and transport. Mentor the Admin and Project staff dealing with the contracts. The role is mainly administrative focused, with liaison with project staff and subcontractors on site as required.
 
Your duties will include:
 
- Reviewing tenders during Estimation stages
 
- Drafting contracts for works across all Group divisions and carry out contract reviews and conduct risk analysis in collaboration with other staff
 
- Maintain records of contracts
 
- Assist in contract disputes
 
- Negotiate contracts with clients
 
Also, performing the above duties for the contracts related to subcontractors.
 
Other responsibilities include:
 
Providing training and contract support to project staff to facilitate understanding of contracts, their content and management thereof.
 
Providing legal and contract advice to senior management in other areas, when expertise and skills permit.
 
Essential Requirements:
 
- Law degree or diploma
- 5 to 10 Years Experience in a Contracts Management (Specifically Civil background preferred)
- Good knowledge of:
- AS4000 Contracts
- GC21 Contracts
 
  
Essential Knowledge:
 
- Substantial knowledge of Australian Standard and general construction contracts used in the construction industry, including alliance contracting.
- Knowledge of OH&S requirements for contracts.
- Knowledge of insurance in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of Security of Payment procedures.
- Ability to assess risk in a business environment.
- Superior negotiation and conflict management skills.
- Computer literacy in publication of documents and spreadsheets.
