Sydney Metro is a statutory authority established on 27 January 2009 with the goal of providing a reliable, frequent, fast, popular and safe metro rail system. In creating a Sydney wide metro network, the first step is the planning and delivery of the CBD Metro, a 7 kilometre metro rail from Rozelle to Central. Future possible extensions include going west to Parramatta via the Inner West from Central and to the North West from Rozelle. The development of the Sydney Metro is a large and complex project by world standards and a unique major infrastructure undertaking by the NSW Government.
