Working on a state wide mental health project
NSW Consumer Advisory Group - Mental Health Inc. is the peak body representing the interests of people using mental health services in NSW. Their role is to ensure the voice of consumers is heard and incorporated into the decisions affecting mental health services and hence act as a bridge between government and consumers. Due to a new phase in a major project evaluating mental health services an opportunity has been created for three Area Liaison Officers to work collaboratively with the Area Mental Health Services to support their preparation for the implementation of a new policy framework. Reporting through to the Project Manager you will be responsible for liaising with AHS staff in relation to project implementation and facilitate the consultation process. You will also be responsible for a range of project activities including the development of policy and promotional materials to support the project, project reporting to internal and external stakeholders and project representation at forums and meetings. You will also support the Project Manager in project implementation including stakeholder negotiation. This role will offer a great deal of stakeholder engagement and the opportunity to work as a part of a dynamic team assisting consumers and services to work together to improve mental health services. To ensure your success you will have a proven track in program implementation with well developed skills in facilitating community consultations and stakeholder liaison. You will have well developed written skills and an understanding of change management coupled with an undergraduate degree in social policy or a related field. An understanding of current mental health issues and the structures of the AHS is highly desirable. People with the experience of mental illness are encouraged to apply.
