Health Services Manager

 



 

Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to set and deploy the strategy for Health Services (onsite medical services, injury management and workers compensation) for SA. By delivering ????? ????? services the incumbent will develop strong business relationships.  The incumbent will align the Health Services Unit activities to the strategic imperatives of the business and more broadly within Human Resources.

Job Objectives:

  • To manage, and oversee the development and performance of the Health Services (including Workers Compensation, Injury Management & Medical) team in South Australia.

  • To ensure that Health Services staff present and act professionally and competently at all times.

  • To work closely with the HR Director Labour Relations and Manufacturing ????? ????? Australian OHS Manager in the development, deployment and management of key strategies

  • To work closely with the Safety and Human Resources teams on the development of “end to end” process improvements

  • Assist with managing the department budget in conjunction with HR Director Labour Relations and Manufacturing

  • To ensure that service providers deliver services that meet the strategic imperatives of the business and the Health Services Unit

  • To ensure that the Health Services Unit provides at all times a high level of advice to each business unit and to senior management in all matters relating to workers compensation, injury management and medical services

  • Provide direction to Health Services Staff on strategy to reduce costs and improve claim/injury management services

  • Supervise, coach and mentor Health Services staff in the day to day management of claims

  • Each year or statutory term review existing insurance arrangements as relevant to the Self-Insurance License

Expected Job Outcomes:

  • Ensure the company receives quality outcomes and service by monitoring ????? ????? claims management treatment and service providers (i.e. legal advisors, medical advisors, investigation panels)

  • Produce cost reduction and maintenance programs

  • Facilitate continuous improvement activities

  • Produce reporting for all senior management within the business

  •  Implement systems that capture early intervention for workers compensation and injury management

Level of Accountability:

  • Accountable to HR Director Labour Relations and Manufacturing

  • Senior management within business

  • Well versed in contemporary strategic and tactical approaches to Workers Compensation

  • Understand the requirements for the maintenance of a self insurance license in SA, specifically managing the relationship between an employer and the WorkCover Corporation of SA

  • Understanding of financial performance of WorkCover scheme

  • Understanding of medical and occupational health practices

Skills:

  • Strong relationship building skills

  • Financial acumen and well developed presentation skills

  • Highly developed influence and negotiation skills

  • Advanced technical and analytical skills (including IT - Word, Excel and Powerpoint)

Education:

Tertiary qualifications in risk management, occupational health and safety, business or a related discipline

Experience:

  • Must have strategic Workers Compensation insurance experience in South Australia, including working knowledge and understanding of Workers Compensation, Safety, Medical Services and Industrial Relation

  • Minimum 5 years experience within Workers Compensation Industry

  •  Minimum 3 years experience working within a self insured environment

  • Team leading experience
