The Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery is highly regarded nationally and internationally for academic excellence, quality teaching and innovative research. Continuing these high standards in 2010, the Faculty has an exciting new range of advanced and specialised nursing programs in Cancer and Haematology, Clinical, Clinical Trials Practice, Emergency, Intensive Care, Mental Health and Nurse Practitioner. Preregistration students can maintain broad study interests by linking their bachelor degree in Arts, Science or Health Sciences to a Master of Nursing, through combined degree courses. The Master of Nursing can also provide a career pathway for graduate entry students. Higher degree research students will benefit from a supportive research experience, choice of study across a range of specialist areas and qualifications highly regarded in the nursing profession, both nationally and internationally. Local, overseas and offshore students will benefit from valuable knowledge and specialist skills which are not only current and marketable, but also responsive to community health care needs into the future.
 
To support the Faculty’s strategic growth initiatives in research and research training, the Faculty would like to appoint a Director Research Students and Research Development. In collaboration with the Associate Dean (Research), you will be responsible for reviewing existing strategies and developing and implementing new ones to enhance the Faculty’s growing research and development profile, as well as be responsible for the administration management of the Faculty’s research students. 
 
In this role, you will lead colleagues and research students in research development by providing support and mentorship to advance Faculty research capability and activity, as well as manage all research student related matters. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to pursue your own independent research and teach within your specialist clinical area.
 
To succeed in this role you will have a strong performance record in research leadership and management, including proven success in securing competitive grants/funding at a national/international level and, a successful record of research student supervision and administration. You will have a significant program of research and publications at both a national and international level, preferably within one of the areas of chronic and complex care, paediatrics, infection control/emerging infectious diseases, or primary health care. You will be engaged in external research collaborations with leading research centres, universities and health care organisations and your research profile will be supported by an outstanding contribution to research led teaching and learning, and scholarship in teaching. Clinical skills and experience in one of the stated areas is desirable.  
 
With tertiary qualifications in nursing, allied health or public health as well as a doctorate in a relevant area, you will be experienced as both a primary and associate supervisor of research students, be currently supervising research students and have a proven record of supervision of research students to completion. Whilst eligibility to register with the NSW Nurses and Midwifery Board is desirable, applications are also invited from non nursing professionals who have an interest in research relevant to nursing and healthcare and demonstrated leadership and organisational management skills.

The position is fulltime continuing subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. To facilitate opportunities for staff professional development across the Faculty, the incumbent will fulfil the role of Director Research Students and Research Development for a period of 2 years fixed term. At the conclusion of the term, the incumbent will continue in their substantive position as Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor of Nursing. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.

Remuneration package: Level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience.
 
Senior Lecturer: $110 536 - $127 313 p.a. (which includes a base salary Lecturer Level C $93 404 - $107 701 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation)
 
Associate Professor: $132 887 - $146264 p.a. (which includes a base salary Associate Professor Level D $112 465 - $123 898 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation)
