Assistant Rates Manager
$86,027 per annum including super
The City of Sydney is seeking a high quality candidate to undertake the role of Assistant Rates Manager. The City generates over $200M in rates and charges annually, and this function therefore represents a critical element in the City’s plan for long term financial sustainability. The successful applicant will require extensive experience in the local government rating profession, and a high level of technical competence together with the management skills necessary to motivate and enhance the services delivered by the Rates team.

You will also be required to contribute to the development and ongoing enhancement of rating policies and practices that will achieve best practice and equitable outcomes for the City’s ratepayers.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Provide strong management and administrative support to the Rates Manager
- Ensure that the annual rate levy and charges comply with legislative requirements
- Monitor the rates function to ensure the accuracy and currency of data
- Provide monthly management reports to measure performance and inform decisions
- Achieve best rates practice and equitable outcomes
- Identify opportunities to enhance the City’s annual rates levy
- Assist with the development and implementation of rates policies and procedures
- Provide high level professional support and technical rating advice
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting and/or relevant Business related disciplines would be desirable.
