Technical Project Manager / Infrastructure Architect - Global Banking Infra Environment. Business aligned specialist infrastructure services area within this leading global financial services & investment banking firm requires a Technical Project Manager / Infra Architect hybird to work between the business/applications groups & infrastructure. The Technical Project Manager will have a strong infrastructure design background, the ability to manage IT infrastructure projects; the soft skills & 'smarts' to liaise with application development groups & the business, whilst also posessing the communication skills & business acumen to operate in an internal infrastructure consulting capacity.
Day to day responsibilities include:
- Providing consultancy on infrastructure design and utilisation, both for new and existing requirements
- Design and implementation of infrastructure solutions
- Ownership and troubleshooting of infrastructure related problems including root cause analysis and resolution
- Supporting the Development Teams and Service Delivery Managers during infrastructure incidents and outages to determine impacts and recoveries
- Driving change for improvement in the infrastructure environment as well as determining impact of change
- Hardware specification and recommendation
- Co-ordination of infrastructure resources
- Input into technical strategy
- Answering queries regarding ongoing infrastructure costs
- Managing infrastructure projects
- Unix / Midrange &/or RDBMS, Networking &/or Wintel knowledge/skills required
The ideal candidate will have experience as an Infrastructure Architect who can manage IT projects OR a hihgly technical Project Manager who can design & articulate IT infrastructures & understand the technology to a complex level. Ideally you will also possess a broad technology background across multiple infrastructure domains - possessing specialist knowledge in at least 2 or more of the following - Unix, Wintel, RDBMS, SAN/Storage, Email/Messaging, Ecommerce/Web Servers &/or Networks.
