  • Support Team Leader - Java J2EE Web based applications - Global Banking & Insurance firm.  Global Insurance, Banking & Financial Services firm requires an Applications Support Team Leader to join a new support group supporting a large Insurance business running a core Java web platform. The Applications Support Team Leader will take responsibility for a small support team (2-4) supporting a fast growing Insurance business - direct and via brokers.

    Your key responsibilities will be -

    • Providing team leadership on day-to-day support activities with a hands on approach and acting as escalation point for incidents or queries
    • Prioritising and working with the Ops team to ensure resolution of day-to-day systems issues and client requests in a timely manner  
    • Driving global service improvement processes and procedures based on best practice and relevant ITIL processes.  
    • Managing the pipeline of application changes / enhancements and running weekly prioritisation meetings  
    • Management of Operational projects ranging from infrastructure / software upgrades, to business-driven enhancements  
    • Establishing strong relationships with business users and IT teams  
    • Reporting of support related activities  
    • Have a pro-active approach to identifying and addressing IT risks and vulnerabilities  
    • Promote and highlight good risk management behaviours to all levels within the team 

    To be successful in this role, you will have - 

    • Solid understanding/experience in Java & ideally J2EE technologies and web applications  
    • Experience managing small sized support teams which provide first line & 2nd line applications support  
    • Enjoy a fast-paced team environment and will thrive on new opportunities and dealing with challenges  
    • Demonstrate a professional approach in your dealings, forging strong relationships at all levels across both technical and business areas 
    • The suitable candidate may have come from a Java Developer or Support Analyst background, moving in to Applications Support Team Leadership (must have at least 2-3 years Support Team Lead experience)
