Our client, one of the Australian market's leading reinsurance companies, is looking to appoint a talented Underwriter within their Life Reinsurance operations.

The role constitutes the next step for many developed and progressive Life Underwriters, looking to use their technical abilities to the maximum, in an environment that focuses on best practice and the ability to look to deliver the highest possible quality to clients in underwriting terms.

The role will require efficiency, the ability to assist clients in all questions of underwriting; contribute to projects and research related risk assessments; external auditing and the management of client reviews.

Key responsibilities within the role would be: -

Ability to make quality risk assessments across all life risk products within defined authority levels and conduct project / research work as required.
Analyse risks outside own authority and give recommendations after research to appropriate Senior for authorisation.
Assist or lead Client Underwriting reviews / audits
Ensure strong Client Relationship management is observed at all times
Assist in the preparation and presentation of key research papers at seminars, workshops and industry events as required.

Key competencies and skills required are: -

Defined experience within the underwriting of all lump sum and disability products with strong financial assessment / analysis skills
Relevant tertiary and industry qualifications
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong relationship management / problem solving abilities
Reinsurance experience ideal but not essential
