Senior Cost Planner (Quantity Surveyor)

This large listed national property trust and developer is one of the top 50 ASX listed companies and one of Australia's largest most diversified property groups. They have a large portfolio of residential, retail and commercial properties.
They are currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor (Cost Planner) to join their cost management team. Based in their Brisbane or Sydney office you will have an opportunity to work across a range of commercial and retail projects as part of their design and development department.
As a Cost Planner you will provide company executives with high level construction cost information at various stages of the projects from initial estimates to detailed elemental break downs. You will be responsible for providing estimates, cost plans, value engineering ????? ????? reporting to upper management.
Reporting to the Cost Planning Manager your main responsibilities will be to:
- Prepare high level Functional Area and Elemental cost plans to enable Development Managers to execute project feasibilities and manage the design process during ????? ????? within budget
- Assist in progressive review of design development and actively participate in solutions to maximise value and minimise unnecessary cost and time during ????? ????? project and design briefs
- Prepare updated cost plans, cash flows, area schedules etc. and assist in defining scopes of works as required
- Assist in challenging proposed design solutions to create the best outcomes for all stakeholders
- Assist in initiating ESD requirements dialogue during ????? ????? and advising potential cost benefit analyses in line with Green Star rating
- Assist in developing relationships with contracting and consulting organisations to continually maintain and update information for use within benchmarking and cost exercises
- Assist in the delivery of nominated projects including advice on contractual, procurement and financial requirements
To be eligible to apply for this exciting new role you must have:
- At least 5-10 years experience in a cost management role with a QS Consultancy or a Property Developer
- Excellent cost planning skills with the ability to build meaningfull estimates at any stage of a construction project
- Experience on large projects - at least $50m plus - especially retail and commercial schemes
- A real understanding of value engineering ????? ????? how to implement the procedures in the design process
- Excellent reporting skills
