Our client, a Local Council in the Northern Region of Victoria is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with broad skills in capital works & planning.
This position is to prepare and coordinate Council’s three year forward look capital works program, to initiate and scope major capital works prior to the detailed design phase, and to initiate and scope a program budgeting process that will facilitate the planning, design and delivery of Council’s forward capital works program.
The main areas of responsibility include assisting the Branch Managers to scope nominated major capital works projects, prepare project proposal scoping reports for nominated capital works projects, undertake stakeholder consultation for nominated projects within the three year forward look capital works program, and ensure that capital works are suitably scoped to move to detailed design and delivery phases.
To be considered for this role, you will be proficient in the use of AutoCAD or Microstation drawing software and 12D design software for road and drainage design, have sound knowledge of Microsoft software packages, have sound knowledge in the use of total station survey equipment, have sound knowledge in financial forecasting and budgeting, demonstrated ability to work successfully with a wide range of stakeholders, particularly in the engineering environment, and have sound knowledge of engineering design and construction standards.
The successful candidate will possess tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering with several years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within Local Government, a current Victorian Driver’s Licence, extensive experience in the planning, design and delivery phases of Local Government major capital works projects, experience in the preparation and administration of engineering consultancy contracts, a demonstrated understanding of the Local Government operating environment, and experience in the preparation of engineering estimates and financial forecasting.
This position is a highly inter-personal role, therefore, the successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, excellent customer service skills, ability to achieve Council’s objectives with clients, employees and consultants, and understanding the needs and concerns of stakeholders.
