Why does the job exist?
With the current expansion at our Callie Gold Mine operation, we need to ensure that we have enough trades persons to ensure that we can meet our growing production targets.

HWE Mining works in an alliance with Newmont Tanami Pty Ltd at the Newmont Tanami Operations, where the mine production and maintenance area is also known as Callie. The site is an underground gold mine and is located in the Northern Territory’s Tanami Desert region, 600km north-west of Alice Springs. The mine currently produces 430,000 ounces of gold annually. HWE Mining provides mechanised underground development and stoping using drill and blast techniques, as well as maintenance and transportation services. The site is equipped with a medical centre, gymnasium, swimming pool, tennis court and walking paths.
What skills and experience do you need?
To be successful for this position you will need to be a hands-on, proactive individual with significant experience carrying out workshop and in pit repairs / maintenance on a range of mining/earthmoving and allied equipment. As well as maintaining responsibility for ensuring ????? ????? and procedures including Quality Assurance and Safety are adhered to. It is desired you will have:
- Must have Relevant Australian Recognised Trade Qualification
- Preventative breakdown, maintenance and installation.
- NT Electrical Fitters License with at least 2 years work post trade experience
- H.V. cable joining and cable installation
- Trouble shooting and fault finding experience
- A High voltage ticket and a sound working knowledge on Tamrock, Elphinestone, Toro and/or Atlas Copco equipment would be desirable but not essential
- Neat and organised approach to work procedures
- Ability to independently problem solve
- Willingness to assist with a range of tasks
- The ability to identify and address hazards in the workplace
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Sound verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work independently and unsupervised
- Certificates of competency in the use of overhead cranes, EWP or forklifts
- Previous FI:FO or DI:DO mining experience is highly desirable.
