The country of Qatar is currently experiencing an economic boom in economy and industry and has placed an emphasis on a major drive toward the development of infrastructure services and construction of projects on a national scale.  Our client, the leading government agency for infrastructure development and project management, is growing their specialist teams and now look to appoint a Highway Engineer for roads and highways projects within their design team of their Road Design Department. 

 

Reporting to the Head of Roads Design, this role is a specialist design role in utilities for major highways (valued in excess of USD2B) and roads projects for Qatar.

Duties:

• Proven ability in the supervision and management of a team with regards to design and review of highways, roadways and surface drainage designs throughout all concept, preliminary and detail design stages. 
• Ability to collect, analyse and validate relevant road design data and the ability to formulate relevant reports specification and quantity estimates. 
• Capability to review design drawings, reports documents, provide technical guidance and support where required and maintain quality standards as appropriate.

Attributes: 

• A Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Civil) is required with a Masters Engineering ????? ????? an internationally recognized institution being highly regarded.
• A minimum of 15 years road design experience with a track record of delivery within the public sector for both Local and the Highways Agency will be considered particularly advantageous.
• Experience also preferred in the design of urban / rural freeway / expressways, grade-separated interchanges, exit and entrance.
• It is expected that successful candidates will have practical exposure to relevant computer software/analysis tolls such as: Info works, autoCAD, MX, Powercivil, civil 3D, storm CAD and Winstorm. 
• Knowledge of AASHTO, BS, FHA and local standards Is advantageous.
