The country of Qatar is currently experiencing an economic boom in economy and industry and has placed an emphasis on a major drive toward development of infrastructure services and construction of projects on a national scale. Our client, the leading government agency for infrastructure development and project management, is growing their specialist teams and now look to appoint a Water Engineer – Treated Sewerage Effluent (TSE) who will report to the Head of Drainage Design TSE.
Responsibilities include:
- Assistance in the preparation of the strategic plans for the development of TSE;
- Technical advice re TSE matters;
- Liaison with Drainage engineers to ensure conformity to the overall plan and to highlight conflicts;
- Reviewing current design practice and recommend modifications;
- Assistance with initiating new work and preparation of design briefs to Consultants;
- Auditing Consultants submissions in terms of quality and conformance to the requirements of the design brief;
- Assistance with the preparation of the TSE design budget;
- Assistance with the development and implementation of a Quality Assurance System;
- Liaison with Roads Affairs with respect to all matters involving existing or proposed TSE systems;
- Liaison with other utility bodies;
- Liaison with environmental bodies with regard to the use and discharge of TSE;
- Assist and update the TSE standard produced from the various STW’s;
- Liaise with developers with regard to their requirements of TSE for their development with emphasis on usage of plant with less water demands;
- Responsibility for requirements in term of supply and demand of TSE for various usages.
Key attributes for this role include:
- A B.Sc in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution;
- Up to 15 years experience in Civil and Public Health Engineering in the disciplines of sewerage infrastructure and sewage treated effluent systems including pumping stations and storage reservoirs;
- Experience in hydraulic modeling is essential;
- Working knowledge of hydraulic software and their use in the design of pressurized distribution system;
- Knowledge of international standards and codes of practice with regard to the re use of TSE;
- Experience in projects involving government departments; public and private organizations;
- Competent at Microsoft Word, Excel and Project, and knowledge of GIS;
- Ability to speak and write Arabic would be an advantage;
- Knowledge of CAD would be an advantage. .
