The country of Qatar is currently experiencing an economic boom in economy and industry and has placed an emphasis on a major drive toward development of infrastructure services and construction of projects on a national scale.  Our client, the leading government agency for infrastructure development and project management, is growing their specialist teams and are looking to appoint Infrastructure Engineers for various major projects valued in excess of USD2B.

 

Reporting to the Head of Road Design, our Client is looking to secure staff for their Design Roads Department. These roles are specialist design roles in roads/bridges/utilities/traffic for the country of Qatar. 

 

Typical duties include:

• Bridge Engineer – Manage the structural design process for bridge projects as team leader. Day to day management of highway structural projects; team leader on major bridge design & major highway structure projects; 15 years structural bridge design experience plus 5 years experience in the management of design teams. Knowledge of analysis and design software and knowledge of AASHTO, UK Dept of Transport Standards and local design codes highly desirable.
• Traffic Engineer – Manage the traffic engineering ????? ????? as team leader. Day to day management of major roads and traffic engineering ????? ?????. Minimum of 15 years traffic/transport design experience.
• Intelligent Transport System Specialist - Provides the concept, design and development services in transport systems and efficient communications networks, including radio communications and voice protocols, SOP development, training and utilization, operation of highway based variable message sign systems for public agencies, coordination in real time of emergency and incident management assets. Minimum 15 years ITS experience. Detailed knowledge of Intelligent Transport Systems as well as ITS system architecture. Ability to demonstrate applying Prince 2 processes.
• Utility Engineer – Specialist role in utilities for major highways (valued in excess of USD2B) and roads projects in Qatar. Understanding of regional utility design criteria and ability to effectively liaise with relevant authorities and stakeholders at various stages of the design. WaterCAD, Water Hammer & AutoCAD power Civil, Civil 3D required.
• Highway Engineer – Specialist design role in utilities for major highways (valued in excess of USD2B) and roads projects for Qatar. Ability to collect, analyse and validate relevant road design data. Minimum 15 years road design experience. Design experience of urban/rural freeway/expressways/ interchanges, exit and entrance. Practical exposure to relevant computer software/analysis tools such as: Info works, AutoCAD, MX, Powercivil, civil 3D, storm CAD and Winstorm expected. Knowledge of AASHTO, BS, FHA and local standards is advantageous.
• Project Manager – Reports to the Director of Project Management (Roads); responsible for the supervision of the day to day civil construction works comprising roads / expressways / infrastructure; monitoring ????? ????? all activities related to a major civil projects; 
• Highway Structure Maintenance Engineer. Monitoring ????? ????? structural projects after completion; administration & supervision of highway structures schemes, planning schemes, construction and repair / improvement works; provide technical expertise in design and project management of a varied program of highway structures schemes.
• QA/QC Expert. Quality, Safety and Environment Advisor to the Quality Safety & Environment Department; providing strategic direction and leadership; establishing relevant performance targets.
• Safety Expert. Develop Safety Strategy for civil and infrastructure mega projects; management of the safety environment; management of the implementation of all Health & Safety strategy, procedures, reviews & updates. A Degree in Safety Management or relevant area plus international safety accreditation NEBOSH (highly regarded); experience in safety management on major civil infrastructure projects with at least 15+ years experience in a similar role, preferably in a similar industry; experience within an expatriate environment.
• Senior Contract Specialist. Responsible for technical advisory services in relation to contract management plus all aspects of contracts, contract terms, specifics, cost, variations, interpreting and transforming it into contract documents. A Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, QS or equivalent with 20 years experience, and a minimum 15 years of experience in developing and administering ????? ????? contracts with senior management experience.

Typical attributes:

• Bachelor of Civil Engineering (or similar) from an accredited University in a relevant field;
• At least 10-15 years experience in relevant field;
• Must have experience of managing high performing multi-disciplinary teams and being responsible for 100+ staff.
