The country of Qatar is currently experiencing an economic boom in economy and industry and has placed an emphasis on a major drive toward the development of infrastructure services and construction of projects on a national scale.  Our client, the leading government agency for infrastructure development and project management, is growing their specialist teams and now look to appoint 2 x Traffic Engineers within their design team of their Road Design Department. Projects will include major highways (valued in excess of USD2B) and roads projects. 

• Managing the traffic engineering design process for projects undertaken by the Roads Design Group. 
• The day to day management of major roads and traffic engineering projects undertaken by the Roads Design Group.
• Team leader on major traffic design projects;
• Involvement in the supervision of design and undertaking of traffic studies.
• Design Engineering, detailing and documentation and consultant management;
• Conduct and manage traffic and parking studies.
• Preparation of Traffic Impact Reports.
• Ensuring that traffic engineering designs are completed on time and to budget
• Ensuring that appropriate technical standards, QA, EMS and OH&S requirements are maintained on projects
• Liaison with other Technical Managers within the firm on issues relating to traffic engineering across multiple projects.
• Use traffic modelling software to analyse intersection capacity and prepare preliminary intersection layouts.
• Involvement in the development of appropriate policy and operational, advice and guidance, standard setting, monitoring of activity and ongoing professional input (including complex problem solving and decision making).
• Monitoring of more junior staff and to national staff as required.

• A Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Civil) is required with a Masters Engineering degree from an internationally recognized institution being highly regarded.
• A minimum of 15 years traffic / transport design experience.
• Experience in design of major roads, intersections and interchanges.
• Experience with and/or exposure to Traffic Modelling and Transport Planning.
• Experience in public transport (planning & design) is highly regarded
• Membership in an internationally recognized professional engineering organization.
• Strong command of business–level written and spoken English.
