The country of Qatar is currently experiencing an economic boom in economy and industry and has placed an emphasis on a major drive toward the development of infrastructure services and construction of projects on a national scale.
Our client, the leading government agency for infrastructure development and project management, is growing their specialist teams and now look to appoint an Intelligent Transport System Specialist within their design team of their Road Design Department for traffic management strategies. Projects will include major highways (valued in excess of USD2B) and roads projects.
Reporting to the Head of Roads Design, this role is a specialist design role in intelligent transport systems for the firm. The Intelligent Transportation Systems operation provides the concept, design and development services in transport systems and efficient communications networks. This comprises radio communications and voice protocols, SOP development, training and utilization, operation of highway based variable message sign systems for public agencies, coordination in real time of emergency and incident management assets.
Our client seeks to appoint a Senior ITS Engineer who can manage projects and provide technical expertise in the field of ITS.
Duties:
- Development of innovative technology solutions that support Qatar’s traffic planning objectives.
- Management of the development of traffic management and traffic information systems and investigating and trialling technology solutions in a roadside environment.
- Day to day management of a project team.
- ITS strategy development and delivery.
- ATM monitoring and evaluation.
- Research framework technical consultancy and research projects
- Electronic toll collection and road user charging.
- Transport Information system integration.
Attributes:
- A Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics or comparable) is required with a Masters Engineering degree from an internationally recognized institution being highly regarded.
- A minimum of 15 years ITS experience with a track record of delivery within the public sector for both Local Highway Authorities, and the Highways Agency will be considered particularly advantageous.
- Detailed knowledge of Intelligent Transport Systems as well as ITS system architecture.
- The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate applying Prince 2 processes in managing projects to deliver successful outcomes to time and budget.
- Accreditation in Prince 2 highly regarded.
