Why does the job exist?

Reporting to the Fixed Plant Superintendent, you will be experienced in providing maintenance planning support for a fixed plant maintenance team in continual improvement of processes, plant equipment and personnel.  You will be conversant in scheduling techniques, creation and tracking of shutdown plans and also contributing to weekly planning using MS Project, spreadsheets & computerised maintenance planning system (JDE) or similar.

The Orebody 23/25 deposits are two of several deposits that make up the Mount Newman mine, one of the largest single pit open-cut iron ore mines in the world.  The town of Newman, Western Australia, is a model-mining town with an attractive centre in the heart of the Hamersley Ranges in the middle of the Australian Outback.  The surrounding area is filled with natural waterholes, ancient aboriginal art sites and an abundance of Australian flora and fauna.  Newman is also the gateway to some of Australia's best outback 4WD tracks and some of Western Australia's most beautiful National Parks.  HWE Mining handles a combined total of 10 million tonnes per year at both operations.  We provide a complete mining service including drilling and blasting, loading and hauling, processing, train loading, infrastructure management, maintenance and other related services.  HWE Mining is committed to providing Indigenous training and employment opportunities at the Orebody 23/25 operations.  Over 10 per cent of our workforce is represented by Indigenous people, recruited locally from the Newman area.

What skills and experience do you need?

This exciting opportunity is suitable for a focused professional with relevant hands on trade or technical experience, exposure to maintenance planning techniques and computerised maintenance systems and an understanding of business budgets, control mechanisms, reporting and job estimation.
