  • Our client is one of Australia's leading steel distributors. The company's products play a big part in peoples everyday lives, being vital components in suburban houses, landmark buildings and structures as well as vital infrastructure.

    This highly professional organisation specialises in the distribution of flat steel products including slab, hot rolled coil, cold rolled coil, plate and value added metallic coated and painted steel solutions.

    An excellent opportunity currently exists for an Operations/Warehouse Manager to join the team. This position should be viewed as more than just a job, we are looking for career minded individuals who like the idea of stability and great working conditions who understand the benefits of working for a market leader.

    The main objective of the position will be to supervise and maintain smooth and optimally efficient operation of the Warehousing and Distribution facility and the supervision and motivation of a small team. It is anticipated that this will be a very "hands on" role.

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • To supervise and maintain Warehouse in excellent condition and ensure good housekeeping is maintained at all times to facilitate operations excellence.
    • Supervision and organisation of all stores personnel including overseeing training and development of your team.
    • To plan, supervise, organise, direct and control offloading, stacking, processing, picking, packing, loading and despatch of steel during ????? ????? shift.
    • Liaison with the sales team to ensure that customers' needs are monitored and satisfied.
    • Supervision of all equipment including preventative maintenance and servicing to ensure efficient utilisation and prevent down time.
    • To assist in fleet tyre maintenance and repair service, ensuring ????? ????? records are documented.
    • To continually monitor stores performance endeavouring ????? ????? productivity and quality control.
    • To ensure that all safety regulations and safe operating procedures are observed and take appropriate action including disciplinary action where necessary.
    • To maintain and monitor the quality control and procedural systems and to report on any non conformances that arise.

    Skills and experience required: 

    • A proven track record in effectively supervising a team in an industrial operations environment.
    • Ideally you will have experience/knowledge of the steel industry.
    • An understanding of transport and distribution planning.
    • Knowledge of OH&S requirements.
    • Experience with warehousing and materials handling.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Well organised, results oriented and self motivated.

    The successful candidate will receive a highly competitive salary package of between $55K and $65K plus super commensurate with experience. You can also rest assured that you will be working in a highly professional and dynamic environment and for a company that looks after its' own.
