Our client is a joint venture between two global business leaders formed to develop and deliver engineering projects.

To date the original joint venture has delivered a series of major projects producing in excess of 100 million tonnes per annum, on behalf of the mine owner.

Expansion plans to installed capacity of 300 million tonnes per annum by 2015 represents unprecedented and accelerated expansion in the region.

Our client programmes management of all expansion projects and selected procurement, construction and management services.

Due to the ongoing successful delivery of major projects they are now looking to appoint a Deputy Study Manager for a significant new project phase in their suite of projects.

Reporting directly to the Study Manager, you will take a leading role in the successful delivery of a new study from selection phase study to handover to the client.

You will be responsible for allocating personnel to the study team as per the requirements of the study, as well as organising the workshare planning and its control.

You will also have technical responsibilities for interpreting, organising, executing and coordinating these assignments.

This is a key role for our client and some of the additional tasks that you will be responsible for include, but are not limited to;
liaising with the projects in order to prepare & authorise engineering programming schedules;
controlling design engineering budgets & estimates;
monitoring engineering costs against budget;
prepare procedures for accurate & timely engineering reporting; plan specific project activities, tasks & end results; and
scope control & trending of scope changes.

Your excellent written and verbal communication skills will be essential, as you will be required to communicate across numerous levels of the business.

Your ability to lead and motivate a diverse team and foster relationships, both internally and externally will be a critical factor, as will your commitment to upholding the high levels of health and safety.

With substantial experience and from a mining background, you will preferably hold a formal qualification in Project Management or a related field of study as well as the proven ability to manage all phases of multi-discipline projects.

Experience on large rail projects and/or experience in the iron ore industry will be viewed favourably.

This is an integral role within a professional team working on one of the most high profile projects in Western Australia.
