Operations & Maintenance Plant Project Manager

 This opportunity and plant is Australias largest desalination plant in Victoria, based approximately 2 hours south east of Melbourne. To ensure that the Public Private Partnership (PPP) venture operates at a high level, this opportunity will require working with the Perth Seawater Desalination Plant in Kwinana WA for approximately 12 months to develop the understanding of a Reverse Osmosis Plant operation.

 

Reporting to the Perth Operations Director, this position has the responsibility for the continuous availability of equipment, its condition, and the management of an asset replacement program, at a major new processing facility.   This is a tremendous opportunity to be in at the very beginning while the facility is under construction.


Other responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining a Quality Management System (including OH&S environment) of the highest standard.
  • Coordinating internal and external resources to ensure the optimum availability and performance of the facility.
  • Manage the Human resources of approximately 5 managers, and up to 60 operational staff.
  • Development of Industrial Relations policies
  • Asset Management support in development and implementation of  CMMS systems, with a focus on reliability, efficiency and conditioning monitoring
  • Management of Financial budgets in excess of $50 million per annum


A Bachelor Degree in Engineering, or Master of Engineering Science experience is essential as with an exposure to asset maintenance in a processing capacity. Over 10 years relevant experience in water treatment, chemical manufacturing, petrochemicals or similar is preferred, as is experience with PLC, DCS or SCADA systems. Finally an understanding of PPP and how to operate a plant under such guidelines.
