Manager Mining

Galaxy Resources is an emerging mining and chemical company focusing on lithium and tantalum production. Galaxy is at an advanced stage of developing its Mt. Cattlin Lithium Project (hard rock spodumene) at Ravensthorpe in the south east coast region of Western Australia. The project encompasses a mine and minerals plant which will produce 137,000 tpa of 6% Li20 spodumene concentrate for shipment through Esperance Port. Galaxy intends to add value to the Mt Cattlin Project by establishing its own downstream lithium processing facilities in China. The company is currently finalising plans to establish a lithium carbonate chemical facility in Jiangsu Province, China. By establishing this plant Galaxy will benefit from easy access to established technology in the region, lower associated capital and operating costs, as well as being close to the strategic growing battery markets in Asia. It has been confirmed that Galaxy has now secured China’s Creat Group as a cornerstone investor to help underpin a $200 Million funding deal with project financing to bring its lithium project into production within a year. Recruitment for the project has commenced and we now seek applications from suitably experienced and qualified candidates for these key positions who have the drive and ambition to help create this exciting project. These and all other positions for the project will be residential in the Ravensthorpe area.

 

Reporting to the Resident Manager, the key purpose of this role will be to initially manage, plan and administer open pit design, scheduling and production activities of the mine operation. You will be responsible for optimising resource use, minimising costs and maintaining high levels of HS&E and quality standards. As well as relevant tertiary qualifications, you will hold a First Class Mine Managers ticket and have the experience to step into the Resident Manager’s role when necessary. As Galaxy are looking to commence underground studies soon, experience in underground mining would be desirable.

 

Tertiary qualified, you will ideally have a strong metallurgical background with some experience of flotation. Additional experience of Lithium processing would be an advantage. The above position will be residential in the Ravensthorpe area and details on competitive remuneration and benefits will be outlined at initial interviews.
