Maintenance Fitter

Our client, one of the largest and most diverse manufacturers in the southern hemisphere, is currently looking to recruit an experienced maintenance fitter for their Smithfield Site.

The purpose of the role is to assist with the efficient running of manufacturing operations by minimising downtime and ensuring preventative maintenance programs are adhered to.

The more specific duties of the role include:

• Working as part of the maintenance team to proactively mitigate manufacturing breakdowns
• Undertake scheduled preventative maintenance as required
• Diligently report maintenance issues as well as make recommendations to improve overall plant performance
• Supervising external subcontractors as well as internal staff on ad-hoc occasions
• Be prepared to work OT as required

In addition to the above duties, the following knowledge, skills and experience will be well regarded:

• Ability to MIG/TIG weld
• Familiarity with FMCG maintenance
• Previous maintenance experience on chain and belt conveyors
• Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to work as part of a team as well as unsupervised
• An appreciation for safety and quality within a manufacturing environment
• Australian Trade Qualifications as a Fitter
• A minimum of 5 years post trade experience as a maintenance fitter
• Electrical Disconnect/Reconnect License
• Post trade qualifications in pnumatics and/or hydraulics
