Exceptional opportunity to join a tier-1 Telco provider as a Senior Product Engineer. The position technically manages products based typically in one or more of the following product areas: mobile; fixed/wireless broadband; Digital TV; DSL; HFC cable modem; Internet; local telephony; HFC telephony; applications; messaging (SMS, MMS); email; transmission; Blackberry; Ethernet; IP VPN; Transaction Services; converged IP telephony; Intelligent Network; call centre/ NIVR; satellite; Prepaid; Video (telephony, streaming, circuit switched); WiFi; Wireless IP.

Key responsibilities include: -

• Accountable to apply subject matter knowledge for the end-end detailed product design and delivery of a number of allocated products, in accordance with approved business requirements. Accountable for management of an investment budget covering several products. Manage all cost components to budget including labour.
• Accountable to recommend technical design and quality decisions in consultation with the technical core team under management.
• Accountable to identify necessary technical resources and negotiate their involvement with the resources’ manager/team leader.
• Accountable to identify necessary vendor resources and recommend to Manager their engagement.
• Accountable to develop contracts for engaging vendors in works activities and recommend approval to Manager.

Key skills & experience required: -

• Recognised industry accreditations (Cisco, Nortel, Microsoft etc) or equivalent technical experience (5 years) desirable.
• Experience in Product Development within the telecommunications or ISP industry.
• Demonstrated successful project management and delivery.
• Familiarity with telecommunication standards.
• An understanding of areas of product technical speciality. 
• Familiarisation with the Australian Regulatory environment.
