Title: Coordinator, Cross Cultural Programs
Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 plus superannuation
Employment Status: Full-time, Fixed Term 12 Months

Location: CBD, Melbourne
BACKGROUND
The Company was established in 1985. Its brief is to protect, preserve and promote the living culture of the Indigenous people of South-East Australia. The Trust aims to bridge the cultural gap between Koories and non-Koories by generating greater awareness and understanding.
The Trust houses a diverse range of artworks, crafts, historical material and photographs. Included in the Cultural Centre are four galleries and a Permanent Exhibition that focuses on Indigenous people from South-East Australia. Other activities include performance arts, educational programs, visiting artist exhibitions and workshops.
The Trust also provides a range of programs and services available to the Koorie community and general public including:
- Programs aimed at recording and preserving the Oral History of Koorie people;
- A service to assist community members trace their family history;
- An extensive library with material dating back to the early 1800’s; and
- A retail shop offering ????? ????? of artworks, souvenirs, gifts and greeting cards.
An important part of the Trust’s work is its education programs that are targeted at educating people about Aboriginal culture. These programs are targeted at all age levels. In recent years the demand for Indigenous Cultural Awareness Training has increased significantly. The Trust has responded to this demand by designing and delivering ????? ????? meet the needs of its clients.
The Coordinator, Cross Cultural Programs will be responsible for the coordination of the Trust’s Indigenous Cultural Awareness Training (ICCAT) programs under the direction of the Education Manager.
Currently the Trust is responsible for the delivery of ICCAT programs to a number of Government Departments and semi-Government authorities.
DUTIES
1.1 Work as a Team-member of the Trust. Incumbent is to be situated within the Education and Training Unit (ETU).
1.2 Principal Deliverer and Facilitator of said ICCAT programs + other Cultural Centre Education/Tourism activities.
1.3 Development and implementation of client specific Indigenous Cross Cultural Awareness Training Packages (ICCAT)
.i.e. Health ICCAT etc
1.4 Research and assist in the development of Cultural education materials for ICAT, and other Heritage Cultural Centre public program activities.
1.5 Assist in logistical coordination of programs i.e. ICCAT, education/ tourism programs of the Cultural Centre. This will include liasing with all relevant parties.
1.6 Provide accurate and timely information to all internal/external enquires directed towards incumbent.
1.7 Provide limited in-house technical/maintenance support inc: limited IT to all other staff (upon appropriate request).
1.8 All other duties as directed by the Education Manager within the scope of the incumbent’s skill level and training.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
2.1 A demonstrated understanding and commitment to Aboriginal culture.
2.2 Extensive knowledge and understanding of Koorie cultures of South-East Australia, and of the historical and contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal people in Victoria.
2.3 Demonstrated ability to work as a team member.
2.4 Demonstrated client service and interpersonal skills including oral and written communication skills with experience in dealing with members of the public, government and non-government agencies.
2.5 Demonstrated time and group management skills.
2.6 Demonstrated ability to research and present findings to colleagues and clients in an easily understood manner.
2.7 Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of ICAT and other Cross Cultural Training Programs.
2.8 Experience using computer packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
OTHER SKILLS
Desirable but not mandatory skills:
3.1 Teacher and/or vocational education and training qualifications.
