Image Processor - Artificial Intelligence

  • Extremely interesting challenge

  • Mat LAB & Algorithms

  • One of a kind project
  • The aim of this project is to develop an automated software system which is able to process images of transmission conductors. Condition is to be assessed with a level of consistency and thoroughness that to date is not achievable via human inspection.

    Specific Task

    * Develop various available algorithms in Mat lab environment to extract straight lines from aerial images. Detection of local edges first. Then aggregate them into the more global defined lines on the basis of various grouping criteria.

    * To develop categorisation method in order to identify structures, spacers, dampeners, insulators and defects and collate the images in structured folders so that asset management engineering ????? ????? inspect the network asset.

    * To establish feasibility and liaise with academic institutions to develop detailed scope for image processing and image analysis to identify broken strands and to detect conductor bulges of various diameters and onset of white powder and rust on the surface of the conductor.

We are trying to implement an automated image processing capability which can identify defects from the numerous high resolution images captured while flying helicopter over electricity transmission lines and assets. You will also need to have excellent Mat LAB knowledge and sound understanding of algorithms. Somebody with an Engineering ????? ????? Electrical / IT and an understanding of the Transmission & Distribution industry and associated assets would be an ideal fit.
