Our client has a global presence. They specialise in the development and implementation of software solutions for the financial industry. Due to growth they are currently seeking a C++ Software Engineer (with a Cobol background) to design, develop and implement their technically challenging software. The ideal candidate will have experience with runtime, integration, and test-driven development.   
   
This is an exciting role for a Software Engineer who understands the business side and can analyse data. Your role will include coding, maintenance and support as well as understanding business requirements and turning them into solid solutions - including "reverse engineering".   
   
Ideally you will have demonstrable commercial experience with the following:   

• 4yrs+ experience programming skills in C++ on Windows or Unix platforms  
  
• Some experience with COBOL is a MUST (ok if not recent experience)  
  
• Experience with Java will be highly regarded  
  
• Runtime & Integration development experience is a distinct advantage  
  
• Experience with Oracle PL/SQL or a RDBMS (stored procedures, modelling, triggers, etc.)  
  
• Semiphore server, open access, interfaces, frameworks, security, etc.  
  
• Tools such as Enterprise Architect & UML  
  
• SOA & Web Services  
  
• Agile/Test-driven practices  
  
• Full SDLC: from gathering ????? ????? implementation  
  
• Mentoring ????? ????? be highly regarded  
  
• Excellent problem-solving skills: a creative solutions provider!  
  
• Understanding of financial instruments important - if no experience here, a definite interest in the financial software market is highly regarded
