Research Fellow Department of Immunology
Leading international university
Innovative and creative environment
The Alfred Hospital
The Opportunity
The Department of Immunology at Monash University is focused on understanding basic immunological processes, as well as inflammation, and represents one of the premiere immunology research groups in Australia. Our laboratory is developing a research program centered around tissue fibrosis and inflammatory diseases, with a particular focus on the role of certain chemokines and chemokine receptors driving fibrosis. The approach of the laboratory is the use of novel laboratory tools such as conditional knockout mice and inhibitors of chemokine receptors. In particular we would like to dissect the role of chemokines and receptors in driving tissue fibrosis in animal models of scleroderma and cystic fibrosis, and also other relevant diseases.
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic full-time Research Fellow to work within this Department. Ideally the candidate should have experience either in chemokine and chemokine receptor biology, or in the fields of connective tissue, extracellular matrix, endothelial, fibroblast and epithelial cell biology, as well as mesenchymal stem cell biology. A background in molecules or mechanisms that drive fibrosis would be advantageous. The candidate should have experience in mouse models, tissue culture, tissue collection and histology. A solid experience in molecular biology and cell signalling is also required.
Appointment will be made at a level appropriate to the successful applicant's qualifications, experience and in accordance with classification standards for each level.
