We have a wonderful opportunity available for an experienced Teacher Librarian who wants to take the next step in their career.

A prestigious College located in the western suburbs is seeking a Head of Library to further develop their information service as a vibrant learning hub.

The major responsibilities of the role include:

• Leadership and management of the library to achieve excellence in teaching and learning
• Achievement of the library's objectives for the current academic year as outlined in the College's Education Master Plan
• Implementation of the P-9 discipline-specific developmental continuum within the context of the library; namely, VELS implementation (including the interdisciplinary and interpersonal strands)
• Completion of VELS and VCE documentation by the Faculty as required
• Ownership and promotion of the philosophy and pedagogy relevant to the library
• Promotion of specialist discipline-based events and competitions
• Planning and promotion of extension opportunities for students within the library
• Promotion of professional learning appropriate for the development of the Faculty
• Administration of expenditure within budget

There is a teaching component of the position so the successful applicant shall be a Teacher Librarian. They will have VIT Registration and be eligible for professional membership of ALIA.

This is a full-time ongoing position and will commence at the beginning of Term 1, 2010.
