A challenging position has arisen at Council within one of Melbournes northern fringe municipalities for a highly experienced Urban Planner to assist in the management and coordination of Councils portfolio of complex and high profile development applications.
In this principal level role, you will also be called upon to assist the Team Leaders to manage and mentor more junior statutory planners as well as in the identification and delivery of process and system improvements.
To be considered for this challenging and diverse role you will demonstrate the following:
- Recognised tertiary qualification in Town or Regional Planning or similar
- Detailed knowledge of the Planning and Environment Act, Subdivision Act, Planning Schemes and other associated and relevant legislation
- Significant experience in applying land use concepts and in dealing with statutory processes and planning principles, with strong knowledge and experience of growth are planning being of particular advantage
- Experience representing Council at VCAT, panels and other forums
- Strongly developed interpersonal and people management skills including demonstrable experience training, mentoring ????? ????? and staff
- Highly developed written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to chair mediation/consultation meetings and present effectively in public forums
