    Our client is a leading financial services institution, with assets throughout the world; it invests on behalf of clients in property markets, the Australian stock market, in international share markets and in a variety of alternative investment structures.

    Role Description
    The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that organisation complies with taxation reporting and regulatory requirements, including the implementation and ongoing maintenance of appropriate governance and risk management protocols and principles.

    Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, key elements of this highly responsible and relatively autonomous role include:

    • Consolidation of a variety of activities into consolidated group tax return;
    • Provide general advice on the tax efficient structuring ????? ????? and other transactions within the group;
    • Liaison with and coordination of the relationship with external advisors;
    • Liaison with Australian Tax Office;
    • Support the group accounting function, providing assistance and advice on GST and FBT matters (administrative functions are all in house);
    • Provide specialist support and advice for the CFO as required and requested;
    • Manage the tax compliance function, including coordinating the preparation of tax returns, reports, notes and disclosures. Preparation and lodgement of periodic Business Activity Statements;
    • Understanding of complex investment deals in relation to the impact of these on the overall tax position of the organisation.

    Required Experience, Qualifications and Personal Attributes

    • University graduate, at least four years PQ CA or CPA accountant; 
    • Experience of working within a financial services environment - whether in an external advisory capacity or "in-house" would be highly regarded;
    • Demonstrable experience of working responsibly and professionally in an autonomous manner, but as a positive influence on the broader team environment and dynamic;
    • Strong technical taxation - particularly corporate taxation - skills, knowledge and experience;
    • Experience in tax return preparation and in consolidating an organisation's tax position;
    • Initiative and an ability to prioritise work and maximise resources whilst delivering ????? ????? service; 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and an ability to communicate effectively at all levels internally and externally;
    • Commercial awareness combined with an ability to make timely decisions within a commercially sensitive and highly confidential environment.
