IT Infrastructure Domain Architect: Virtualisation

    We are keen to acquire the talents of an experienced Domain Architect to provide leadership for the development of strategy and architecture for the Virtualisation and Consolidation platforms across the Telstra IT Infrastructure Domain.
     
    Drawing upon your strong, relevant experience working as a Domain Architect, you will evolve the infrastructure environments towards the target architecture by developing roadmaps and articulating the evolution to technology specialists and managers.
     
    Key Accountabilities:
    • Develop the strategy and architecture for use of Virtualisation techniques and technologies in the Server, Storage, and IT Networks domains and document through whitepapers and blueprints;
    • Maintain a current and comprehensive knowledge of  'cloud computing' and provide management  briefings on relevance and practicality of vendor directions and  products;
    • Communicate the recommended strategies to technical and management  stakeholders and gain endorsement;
    • Develop the relevant domain sections of the Standard Operating Environment;
    • Contribute to the development of Solution design documents for shared infrastructure and for programme solutions using SOE components;
    • Lead virtual teams of architects and domain technical specialists to:
      • Runs assessments and evaluations;
      • Develop strategy positions (whitepapers);
      • Investigate systemic issues and problems;
    • Provide direction on and validate service provider and vendors'  proposed solutions to ensure they utilise SOE  products  and Telstra standards appropriately and that they conform to published architecture strategy and roadmaps;
    • Raise, assess and represent Change Requests as relevant;
    Key Requirements:
    • In depth and current knowledge of virtualisation and consolidation architectures for network, server and storage
    • Strong general technical background across IP networks, Unix and Windows operating system platforms, networked storage;
    • Tertiary qualifications;
    • Well developed verbal and written communication skills;
    • Able to develop, lead, influence virtual teams;
    • Prior experience of technology assessment and evaluation; including cross-domain dependencies;
    • Proven experience in leading diverse groups of IT Subject Matter Experts across Plan, Build, Run groups to successfully convey their requirements  and  concerns into strategy  positions;
    • Knowledge of data centre networks  (IEEE 802.1 Data Centre Bridging)
    • Knowledge of Data Centre Ethernet
