Specific Role Purpose: The (Customer) Managed Security environment represents a key growth direction for Telstra's Enterprise and Business markets, in conjunction with Managed and Hosting Services. The role will report to the General Manager - Managed Solutions and will be responsible for the management of a high performing team of skilled technical specialists. As a leadership role, the successful candidate is expected to contribute strongly to ensuring ????? ?????'s Managed Security infrastructure evolution occurs in a coherent manner, is timely and cost-effective, and makes available the maximum commercial benefit, including rapid time to market for new products and services. The role is responsible for the development and lifecycle management of the (Customer) Managed Security environment and product solutions, and has engineering ????? ????? Managed Security solutions delivered to customers as security products and services. The successful candidate will be expected to make a personal technical contribution in driving high-quality engineering ????? ????? Telstra's processes and strategic direction. Key accountability for the role includes providing specialist Security architecture support to Telstra Product and Sales Teams for new customer opportunities. Specific Accountabilities: - Holistic accountability for the (Customer) Managed Security environment.
- Cost-effective development and lifecycle management of the Managed Security infrastructure to meet the requirements of those current and future products.
- Timely delivery of tested configurations and solutions to support new applications and products being brought to market.
- Planned and controlled evolution of the Managed Security environment and other technology solutions to ensure new products and requirements do not compromise existing services.
- Consideration of the physical and logical attributes of applicable technologies to determine where changes can be made to improve the overall performance and availability.
- Liaise with business stakeholders, including product and operations management to ensure that their requirements of the platforms and technologies are delivered.
- Forecast costs for development projects, capacity and lifecycle activities, and support contracts associated with the Managed Security solutions and other technologies as directed.
- Once approved, ongoing accountability for the relevant elements of project, capacity, lifecycle, and support budgets.
- Develop vendor relationships and work closely with Telstra Vendor Management to ensure vendor targets and deliverables are met. This includes managing the engineering ????? ????? Netforensics, ISS and Cisco (Project Enterprise) for Managed Security solutions
- To achieve all of this, this role will lead a team of about 8-10 staff.
- Accountability for successful motivation, development, administration and other leadership/managerial functions for this team
Specific Capabilities: - Detailed knowledge of Managed Security solutions, including hardware selection, high level network design, software solutions, architectures and processes related to enabling and delivery of security services to customers.
- Ability to match broad commercial understanding with broad and deep technical vision to develop commercially relevant and technically deliverable strategies.
- Creative and optimistic-but-responsible approach to problem solving, planning and seeking opportunities for improvement.
- Technical learning - a demonstrated ability to continuously update technical knowledge in line with market and industry trends.
- Demonstrated success in timely and cost-effective delivery of technology product development and system integration projects.
- Experience leading professional teams (line or functional leadership) and demonstrated ability to drive outcomes in a virtual team.
- Business acumen - able to appreciate the business context in which the systems operate.
- Demonstrated success in negotiating appropriate arrangements with vendors and then managing vendor performance to best advantage.
- Timely decision making.
- Very strong communication skills on both technical and commercial levels.
