The Energy and Water Ombudsman (Victoria) (EWOV) investigates and resolves complaints made by electricity, gas and water customers. We’re independent of government and industry and currently employ approximately 80 staff.
This vacancy arises due to a retirement.
Reporting to the Ombudsman, the Manager Public Affairs and Policy (MPAP) is a member of the Scheme’s senior management team. The MPAP manages the Public Affairs and Policy Team, with responsibility for community and stakeholder liaison, publications and the website and EWOV’s involvement in public policy processes.
The successful candidate will:
· have experience in communications/public policy
· be an excellent leader and manager
· have highly developed conceptual and strategic analytical abilities
· have sound judgement in the management of public affairs
· have the ability to manage a policy/research area
· have well developed policy and research skills and experience
· understand and apply the concept of independence
· have excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
· be a self-starter with drive, initiative and flexibility, as well as excellent time
· management, prioritisation, and administration skills
· have public presentation skills including media liaison and the ability to represent/promote the scheme
· understand and apply the concept of alternative dispute resolution
· support and adhere to our Cultural Values
· have a relevant tertiary qualification
The salary package, inclusive of super, is $97,250 with a potential bonus of up to 10% of annual salary.
Comprehensive training will be provided.
